Hamilton home a ‘total loss’ after Sunday fire

A Hamilton home was a “total loss” after a 2-alarm fire broke out Sunday afternoon, local fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to reports of a house fire in Asbury Grove at about 1:18 p.m. Sunday, according to the department.  Photos from the scene show heavy flames pouring from an upper window in the yellow house.

“We’re grateful to report that everyone made it out safely,” Hamilton Fire Department stated in a Facebook post Sunday evening. “Unfortunately, the home is a total loss.”

Hamilton police closed down upper Asbury Street while firefighters battled the blaze. Scanner reports put the location of the fire on Essex Ave in the area.

No one was injured, police said.

At the scene Sunday afternoon, crews worked to bring the fire under control, at one point ordering firefighters out of the building.

The department stated they received mutual aid from Wenham, Ipswich, Essex, Beverly, Topsfield, Manchester, and Gloucester, thanking them for “their outstanding assistance.”

“Thank you to the community for your cooperation and support,” Hamilton Fire said. “Please keep the affected family in your thoughts as they begin to recover from this tragic event.”

Authorities did not identify any potential cause of the fire as of Sunday evening.
