Putin gives Trump BLESSING to make land grab for Greenland as raging Vlad warns Nato his troops ready for war in Arctic

VLADIMIR Putin has given Donald Trump his blessing to make a land grab for Greenland and said the US president’s ambitions should be taken “seriously”.

The tyrant also suggested that Russian troops are ready for a war in the Arctic and warned Nato that Moscow would always protect its interest in the region.

In a major speech, Putin said that Trump’s stated intention to acquire Greenland was not a surprise.

He said: “It would be a grave mistake to think that this is just some eccentric talk of the new American administration.

“Those plans have deep historic roots, and it is obvious that the US will continue to promote their geopolitical, military and economic interests in the Arctic.”

However, Putin added that he was concerned that “Nato countries in general are increasingly designating the far north as a springboard for possible conflicts”.

This includes “Nato troops in these conditions, including by their ‘new recruits’, Finland and Sweden,” he said, referring to the alliance’s latest members.

Putin warned that Russia will defend its interests in the Arctic as geopolitical rivalries intensify in the region.

He said Russia has “never threatened anyone in the Arctic”, but “we are watching recent developments very closely”.

Russia has ramped up military exercises on its side of the 830-mile border with Finland since the Scandinavian country joined Nato in 2023.

Putin also reportedly sent in neo-Nazi group Rusich – a paramilitary battalion sanctioned by the West for “extreme cruelty” – to “reinforce” patrols there last September.

The tyrant added: “We are developing our response capabilities by upgrading our military infrastructure.

“We will not allow an encroachment of the sovereignty of our country…we will protect our national interests.”

Focus on the Arctic’s strategic importance for mining, shipping and security has increased sharply because of repeated statements by Trump that he wants to acquire Greenland.

The President stressed that the US needed Greenland for “international world security” and has not ruled out doing so by force.

Meanwhile, Zelensky called the ageing despot a “dinosaur who wants to eat us up” and insists the Kremlin is “not ready for talks”.

Speaking after the Ukraine summit in Paris, Zelensky said he would be open to negotiations but questioned what the 72-year-old tyrant could bring to the table.

The brave Ukrainian leader said in translated comments: “Putin wants war, but what can a man who wants war say at peace talks? I’ve never been afraid.

“Putin is a dinosaur who wants to eat us up.”

The fiery remarks came as several leaders gathered in Paris today for high-stakes talks on long-term security for Ukraine, with Emmanuel Macron and Sir Keir Starmer co-hosting the “coalition of the willing” meeting.

Zelensky used the summit to push for tougher sanctions, warning Putin aims to “divide Europe and America” and saying the West must stay united and strong.
