Alisson Agrees Personal Terms With Juventus as Liverpool Face Goalkeeper Dilemma

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has agreed personal terms with Juventus ahead of a potential summer departure, with Italian journalist Nicolo Schira reporting the 33-year-old has signed off on a contract worth €5 million per year running until 2029.

The development marks a significant step forward in one of the summer’s most consequential transfer storylines, though Liverpool have yet to confirm whether they will sanction a sale.

According to Tuttosport, Alisson’s entourage is actively working toward a clean exit from Anfield, with the club having recently activated an automatic one-year contract extension that ties him until June 2027. That clause complicates the situation but has not dampened Juventus’s enthusiasm. Sky Sports report that the Turin club have made Alisson a top target and intend to dedicate significant time and resource to completing the move.

Alisson’s relationship with Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti stretches back to their time together at Roma in the late 2010s, and the personal motivation for a reunion appears genuine. Spalletti reportedly wants a goalkeeper with greater experience and authority than Michele Di Gregorio, who has had a turbulent season. Sky Sports analyst Lyall Thomas notes that Liverpool are conducting due diligence on replacement options, which suggests they are at minimum preparing for the possibility of losing their first-choice keeper.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation is more nuanced than a simple departure. Giorgi Mamardashvili was signed from Valencia in 2024 for €30 million specifically as Alisson’s long-term successor, but questions linger over whether the 25-year-old Georgian international is ready for top-level Premier League action week in, week out. Caoimhin Kelleher has also filled in admirably during Alisson’s injury absences.

Alisson himself has missed substantial time this season with a hamstring problem and is only now nearing a return to training, according to Arne Slot. His market value is estimated at around €15 million, making any sale relatively straightforward in financial terms. The greater consideration for Liverpool is timing given Mo Salah is also expected to leave this summer, meaning losing two iconic figures simultaneously would be a significant off-season challenge to manage.

A deal with Juventus would bring Alisson back to the country where he developed into a world-class goalkeeper, providing a fitting chapter in a career that has defined an era at Anfield.
