Police Blotter: Abercrombie & Filch? Suspect lifts $2,000 in clothing

A 24-year-old man from Dorchester walked out of the Abercrombie & Fitch on Newbury Street Tuesday with a nearly-$2,000 clothing haul — which police say he didn’t pay for.

Shawn Walker allegedly left the clothing store with two shopping bags filled with about $1,850 in merchandise just after noon, with loss prevention at his heels.

Boston Police responded to the area, and with information from employees, officers were eventually able to find the suspect at the intersection of Belvidere Street and Huntington Avenue holding the shopping bags.

Walker allegedly resisted arrest “by tensing his body,” while officers tried to place him in custody, a statement from BPD said.

While being booked for shoplifting by asportation (his second offense) and resisting arrest, police said Walker provided them with a fake name, leading to a third charge of furnishing a false ID to law enforcement.

He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
