A person was shot inside Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland, on Monday, and one person is in custody, according to police.
Officers with the Montgomery County Police Department were dispatched to the high school at 2:15 p.m. for a report of shots fired near the school. About 30 minutes later, police confirmed on social media one person had been shot inside the school.
At 3:23 p.m., police said they had one person in custody in connection to the shooting.

Police did not provide any further information about the person who was shot, such as their condition or whether they are a student.
Wootton High School is on lockdown and roads near the school are closed.
Parents trying to reunite with their children should go to Robert Frost Middle School at 9201 Scott Drive in Rockville, police said. Students who typically take the bus home from school will take their regular routes home, according to police, who asked parents of those students not to come to the school.
