Welcome to City Limits’ NYC Housing Calendar, where we round up the housing and land use-related events and hearings coming up this week, as well as affordable housing lotteries that are ending soon.

Upcoming housing and land use-related events:

  • As of Monday, Feb. 2, Code Blue procedures remain in effect for New York City due to extreme cold temperatures. Public warming facilities with food, as well as warming buses, are in operation in every borough, and listed here. The city is also relaxing homeless shelter intake rules during the weather emergency; find a list of intake and drop-in center locations here. If you see someone outdoors in need of assistance, call 311.
  • Monday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.: The City Planning Commission will meet to review the following projects: 20 Berry Street1325 Ave of the Americas-Text Amendment/CertFlushing Creek CSO Disinfection FacilitiesArden Heights Woods Stream Restoration, and Skyline Playground Upgrades. The Department of Design will also provide a design update on the Borough-Based Jail planned for Manhattan in Chinatown.   • Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 930 a.m.: The Landmarks Preservation Commission will meet. More here.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises will meet about the following land use applications: 1417 Avenue U Rezoning, 217-14 24th Avenue Rezoning, 63-12 Broadway Rezoning, 78-08 Linden Boulevard, 247-56 90th Ave Rezoning, 14-10 Beach Channel Drive Rezoning, Ethyl’s Alcohol & Food, and 33-01 11th Street Rezoning.   • Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 12 p.m.: The New York State Senate’s Committee on Housing, Construction and Community Development will meet regarding several housing-related bills, including one that would create a statewide residential rental registry. More here.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m.: The New York State Senate’s Committee on Aging will meet regarding several bills related to housing for seniors, including legislation that would expand eligibility for a senior rent freeze program. More here.
  • Thursday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.: Community First Development Coalition will host an online webinar, “From Watching to Waking Up: What We All Need to Know” a conversation about NYC development with Hamilton Fish and Stephanie Kelemen. More here.
  • Monday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Housing and Buildings will meet about several bills, including legislation to legalize shared housing rooming units (also known as single room occupancy or SROs) and cellar apartments in one- and two-family properties, among others. NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.

  • 727 East 215th Street Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $81,703 – $116,640 (last day to apply is 2/4)
  • 1256 Shakespeare Avenue, Bronx, for households earning between $80,846 – $116,640 (last day to apply is 2/4)
  • The Franklin Apartments, Manhattan, for households earning between $114,652 – $227,500 (last day to apply is 2/5)
  • 556 Baltic Street Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $40,595 – $175,000 (last day to apply is 2/9)
  • Nova Astoria, Queens, for households earning between $71,212 – $227,500 (last day to apply is 2/9)
  • 196 South 3rd Street Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $135,498 – $227,500 (last day to apply is 2/9)
  • Rockaway Village Apartment 5, Queens, for households earning between $25,475 – $160,720 (last day to apply is 2/9)
  • 2339 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, for households earning between $111,909 – $189,540 (last day to apply is 2/9)
