Winter weather advisory, snow showers in store for DC region Sunday

A mix of rain and snow roll into the D.C. area Sunday morning, following Saturday’s brief morning snow showers.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the D.C. region until 6 p.m.

It said rain will mix with, and then change to snow, adding that snow accumulations will range from a coating over the southern and southwest suburbs of The District, to 2 or 3 inches over northeastern Maryland.

The National Weather Service warned that the wintry mix will create slippery road conditions.

7News First Alert Meteorologist Jordan Evans said he expects high temperatures between 32 and 36, with wind chills in the 20s.

Evans said skies should clear in the evening, but temperatures will fall into the teens and lower 20s, with wind chills in the teens.

Make sure to stay bundled up Monday, especially if you’re participating in any outdoor activities marking Martin Luther King Jr. Day, such as the District’s annual Peace Walk and Parade. Wind chills will be in the 30s.
