Boston Police Blotter: Large capacity ghost gun, Chelsea fire

Boston Police arrested a 22-year-old on several gun charges after seeing a photo of the suspect allegedly brandishing a gun.

Zayvion Guity, of Milton, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a large capacity feeding device.

Officers in Dorchester said they saw someone matching the look of a person holding a gun in a photo disseminated by detectives.

When they approached the suspect, officers said they attempted a pat frisk, but Guity “hunched his body forward and fell to the ground.”

According to BPD, the officers felt what appeared to be a weapon on Guity as he kept reaching for his midsection. They asked him to put his hand behind his back, but he allegedly continued to resist. Multiple officers were involved in subduing Guity and placing him in handcuffs, police said.

Officers recovered a ghost gun with a 15-round magazine, as well as flashlight and laser attachments in Guity’s fanny pack, they said.

Four-alarm fire in Chelsea

The Chelsea Fire Department responded to what turned out to be a four-alarm structure fire on Cottage Street around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

When firefighters arrived, they saw “heavy fire conditions” at 58 Cottage St., which had spread to 56 Cottage St. next door.

First responders entered the building to search for residents and fight the fire, trying to protect other adjacent buildings, Chelsea FD said in a statement.

Multiple engines from other departments also responded.

All the residents were evacuated from the buildings safely, and no injuries from residents or firefighters were reported.

The city of Chelsea is working to provide support to those affected and displaced by the fire in the two buildings.

The fire department and Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause.
