McIlroy is now seven under overall, five shots behind leader Joakim Lagergren at the tournament’s halfway point, and is pursuing the second Irish Open of his career, nine years after winning his first at this very venue.

“The support is absolutely incredible,” McIlroy said Friday of the reception he’s received on-site. “I’m looking forward to playing in that atmosphere the next couple days.
