Now that June wholesales data has been studied, it’s time to detail the latest launches on the Chinese market. This month there are six models entering the charts, all Chinese. To fully understand the scope of the Chinese market, make sure you consult our Exclusive Guide to all 188 active Chinese Brands.

1. Xiaomi YU7 (2,234 sales)

The launch of the Xiaomi YU7 is the most anticipated of the year. And it didn’t disappoint: it attracted no less than 200,000 orders in just 3 minutes and 289,000 in 1 hour. Prices start at RMB 253,900 (30,300€ or US$35,400), undercutting its main competitor the Tesla Model Y (RMB 263,500). The top of the line trim, called Max, is priced at RMB 329,900 (39,400€ or US$46,000). It is an AWD with Dual Motor, 508 kW, 760 km of autonomy, 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 3.23 sec and a top speed of 253 km/h. For reference, the top trim Model Y is priced at RMB 313,500.

The YU7 is 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide and 1,608 mm tall with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. The Model Y is 4,751 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,624 mm tall with a 2,891 mm wheelbase. The Standard and Pro trims are powered by a 96.3 kWh LFP battery while the Max trim has a 101.7 kWh NCM battery. The model supports 5.2C ultra-fast charging, good for 620 km of autonomy in just 15 minutes. Inside, we have a 1.1-meter wide panoramic screen strip with LED displays, and a floating central infotainment touch screen. The rear passengers have access to a 6.7-inch control screen. In terms of safety features, all trims include lidar, Nvidia Thor chip and Xiaomi’s in-house assisted driving system. There is also a bullet-resistant battery shell.

Given the astounding initial response to the model, we have high hopes for the success of the YU7. We have the bar to success relatively low, and have no doubt it will easily surpass it.

2. Leapmotor B01 (1,581 sales)

The Leapmotor B01 is the first EV sedan under the B series. It sports a sleek fastback design with a low drag coefficient of 0.197 Cd and streamlined features like flush door handles. It measures 4,770 mm long with a 2,735 mm wheelbase. Built on the LEAP 3.5 platform, the B01 is rear-wheel drive with a single electric motor producing either 132 kW (177 hp) or 160 kW (215 hp). Two battery options are available — 56.2 kWh (550 km CLTC range) and 67.1 kWh (650 km) — both utilising 800 V architecture and capable of fast-charging from 30% to 80% in roughly 18–20 minutes. Inside, it features advanced tech: two digital screens (8.8″ instrument cluster, 14.6″ central touchscreen) powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P for the cockpit system.

Also tech-wise, it has LiDAR and a Snapdragon 8650 chip on higher trims enabling 26 advanced driver-assistance functions (including highway and urban navigation) via 27 onboard sensors. The B01 is offered in five trim levels priced between RMB  105,800 and 135,800 (12,600-16,200€ or US $14,750–$18,900). It will compete with the BYD Qin Plus EV (RMB 109,800–145,800), BYD Seal 06 (RMB 99,800-139,800) and Xpeng Mona M03 (RMB 119,800-139,800). In terms of sales prospects, Leapmotor is on a roll at the moment, selling almost 45,000 units in June, a record. However most of its volume is delivered by its SUV range, so the B01 may struggle a bit.

3. Chery QQ Domi (602 sales)

The QQ Domi is a compact five‑door electric hatchback tailored for urban commuters. It features two battery variants: a 28.5 kWh pack providing a 305 km CLTC range and a larger 39.33 kWh pack offering up to 405 km. Powering the QQ Domi is a 40 kW front‑mounted motor delivering 110 Nm of torque and a top speed of 100 km/h. Both models support fast charging from 30 % to 80 % in about 30 minutes, and the long-range version includes a vehicle‑to‑load (V2L) capability, enabling it to power external devices.

Design elements include LED headlights, hidden door handles (which is now a mandatory feature of Chinese cars even at a tiny price) and a floating‑roof. The QQ Domi measures 3,720 mm long with a 2,520 mm wheelbase. The interior offers practical tech with a 7‑inch digital driver display and 10.25‑inch floating touchscreen, alongside amenities like voice recognition, keyless entry, app-based remote controls, and flexible rear seating. Positioned in the competitive mini‑EV segment, the QQ Domi is priced from RMB 59,900 to RMB 69,900 (7,150-8,350€ or US $8,350-9,750), clearly above the QQ Ice Cream (RMB 29,900-56,700) in the Chery lineup. It competes against models like the Geely Xingyuan (RMB 68,800-97,800), BYD Seagull (RMB 69,800-85,800), Leapmotor T03 (RMB 59,900-69,900) and Kaiyi Shiyue (RMB 53,900-99,800).

The QQ Ice Cream peaked at 11,687 units in June 2022 but has fallen to just 3,128 in June 2025. We want the QQ Domi to reach at least half of that best score.

4. Geely Galaxy A7 (593 sales)

The Galaxy A7 is a plug-in hybrid fastback sedan at 4.918 m in length with a 2.845 m wheelbase. It features the latest Galaxy design cues—complete with a full-width LED light strip (196 elements) and a drag coefficient of 0.229—boasting proportions comparable to the Tesla Model  3. Surprise: the door handles are not flush! Inside, buyers get a 15.4″ 2.5K infotainment touchscreen, 12.3″ digital instrument panel and optional 16.6″ head-up display. There are also dual 50 W wireless charging pads, and a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system, along with Geely’s G‑Pilot H3 ADAS suite.

Under the hood lies the Geely EM‑i AI Super Hybrid 2.0 system—a parallel setup pairing a 1.5 L naturally aspirated engine (82 kW/110 hp) with a 175 kW (235 hp) electric motor, delivering 0–100 km/h in about 7.1 s. Buyers can choose between an 8.5 kWh unit (70 km electric range) or an 18.4 kWh unit (150 km), both enabling a combined CLTC range up to 2,100 km and fuel consumption of just 2.67 L/100 km. Pricing range is RMB 103,800-133,800 (12,400-16,000€ or US$14,500-18,650), and competitors include the BYD Sealion 06 (RMB 99,800-139,800) and BYD Qin L (RMB 99,800-153,800).

The Galaxy lineup has been a total success for Geely, partly enabling the brand to top Volkswagen in the charts for a few months. We have a moderate bar for success for the A7, a level it has high chances to surpass.

5. BYD e7 (521 sales)

Yet another launch from BYD, something that is close to a monthly occurrence. The e series is a more low-cost offer targeted at a younger audience and ride-hailing fleets. The e7 is a mid-size electric sedan at 4,780 mm long with a 2,820 mm wheelbase. The front represents a smiley face and the rear, as is the case for most Chinese models at the moment, sports full-width tail lights. Note the door handles are not flush! How basic.

There are two Blade LFP battery options available: 48 kWh and 57.6 kWh for CLTC ranges of 450 and 520 km respectively. The electric motor is 100 KW (134 hp). Top speed is 150km/h. Inside, there is a definitely non-low cost 15.6″ touchscreen infotainment system, as well as a 5″ digital instrument cluster. The e7 is priced from RMB 103,800 to 115,800 (12,400-13,800€ or US$ 14,400-16,100) and overlaps with many BYD models: the Qin L (RMB 99,800-153,800), Qin Plus (RMB 79,800-179,800) and Sealion 06 (99,800-139,800). Is the e7 the model too much for BYD. Nothing is less certain as it targets a different audience.

6. GAC Trumpchi Xiangwang S9 (40 sales)

The Xiangwang S9 is a mid to large plug-in hybrid SUV, available in 5 or 6-seat layout configurations. The length is 5,060 mm and the wheelbase 2,930 mm. Exterior design is rather classic, with the mandatory full-width head and tail lights. It does look like a lot of other boxy Chinese SUVs out there, with the Li Auto range coming to mind. Door handles are flush, of course. The interior features a floating central control screen, a full LCD instrument panel and a head-up display. Also, we have the Hongmeng cockpit Harmony Space 5 powering the infotainment.

Under the hood, the S9 is equipped with a 1.5T PHEV system with a comprehensive range of over 1,200 km. All trims are equipped with dual-motor four-wheel drive. It is matched with the CATL Xiaoyao hybrid battery with a capacity of 44.57kWh. The maximum CLTC pure electric range is 252km, and the comprehensive range exceeds 1200km when fully fuelled and fully charged. Tech-wise, it sports advanced technologies such as Huawei Qiankun ADS 4 and Hongmeng Cockpit 5. Competitors include the Li Auto L7 starting at RMB 319,800, the AITO M7 starting at RMB 258,000 and BYD Tang L starting at 229,800. No price info for the S9 is available at this stage. For reference, the Trumpchi S7 is priced from RMB 175,800 to 229,800.

GAC has been very discreet of late, with only the Trumpchi M8 passing the 5,000 sales milestone in June. The Trumpchi S7, launched last February, peaked at 2,977 sales in April. We’ll aim at a little less in the long term to call the S9 a success.
