PSG Beat Madrid to Setup Chelsea Clash in FIFA CWC Final

Paris Saint-Germain are still showing its hunger for trophies as they grab a ticket to the FIFA Club World Cup final. The Ligue 1 outfit took down Real Madrid 4-0 in the semifinal round to book a meeting with Chelsea.

PSG Beat Madrid in Convincing Fashion

Les Parisiens continue to showcase their prowess. After such a dominant performance in the Champions League, they put on another similar display in the Club World Cup. Following their 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich, PSG defeated another European giant, Real Madrid.

Expecting another tight encounter in the semifinal, Luis Enrique’s side changed the atmosphere with two quick goals. The French side went 1-0 up after just six minutes through Fabian Ruiz, before Ousmane Dembele doubled it three minutes later.

PSG’s aggressive approach forced Madrid’s defenders to make two crucial errors, which put the La Liga side in trouble very early. Going 2-0 down after just 10 minutes makes it difficult for Los Blancos to take control of the match.

Les Parisiens managed to control the first 45 minutes and got even more comfortable after Ruiz netted his second on 24 minutes. Xabi Alonso’s team tried to bounce back after the break, but despite a much better effort, they still couldn’t score any goals.

Instead, it was PSG that completed their domination with a fourth goal, courtesy of substitute Goncalo Ramos, three minutes from time. The Portuguese international celebrated his goal with a tribute to Diogo Jota, who just passed away recently.

PSG to Battle Chelsea for CWC Trophy

Enrique’s team’s convincing victory will give them more confidence in their chances to lift the FIFA Club World Cup trophy. After grabbing their first-ever Champions League trophy, PSG are not hunting for another glory, and the CWC is next on their list.

However, the Ligue 1 giant will be facing a tricky test in the final as they face Premier League outfit, Chelsea. The Blues have been showing pretty solid and consistent performances throughout the tournament, as they seem to get better each game.

Both teams will be eager to lift the new Club World Cup trophy, notably since it’s the new format’s first edition. PSG seem to be the slight favourite to win, but Chelsea could pull off an upset as they do have talented players in their ranks.

Interestingly, both teams have lost one game in the tournament, and coincidentally, they were beaten by Brazilian clubs. PSG were stunned 1-0 by Botafogo in the group stage, while the Blues lost to Flamengo in the same round.
