Lidl Northern Ireland has issued an urgent recall after listeria was found in one of its products.
The budget supermarket and the Food Standards Agency have recalled a batch of 150g Deluxe Sriracha Cheddar Cheese Wedge.
The FSA said listeria monocytogenes was found in the batch.
The bacteria can cause symptoms similar to flu, such as a high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.
In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.
The FDA said: ‘Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.’
The affected batch has a best before of May 11 2025.
Anyone who has bought the product should not eat it. The cheese can be returned to any Northern Ireland Lidl store for a full refund.
Any customers with queries or concerns can contact Lidl NI Customer Services on 0289 568 4888.
