A 32-year-old local woman was killed in a shooting Friday morning, according to the Suffolk DA who blamed the fatal “shocking act of violence” on the victim’s husband.
Melissa Janvier Pablo died after the shooting in Chelsea at around 8:45 a.m. on Friday.
“This was a fast-moving investigation involving State and Chelsea police with an important assist by Everett police. I thank all for their solid work to ensure that Mr. Pablo will answer for this brutal crime,” said Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden.
The DA’s office said in a statement that Luckenson King Pablo, 31, of Chelsea has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife. Pablo will be arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court.
“Further details will be released at the arraignment,” the DA’s office added.
Massachusetts State Police assigned to Suffolk DA’s office and Chelsea Police immediately investigated the slaying following the shooting near the intersection of Central Avenue and Marginal Street, by the TownePlace Suites.
The alleged shooter reportedly ran from the scene and fled in a car. A man has been detained, and was being interviewed in connection with the shooting, the DA’s Office said and that turned out to be the husband.
When a Chelsea police officer responded to the shooting, the cop found Melissa Janvier Pablo lying on the ground. She was transported to MGH, where she was later pronounced dead.
Hayden offered his condolences to Pablo’s loved ones, and said there was no apparent threat to the public.
“Losing someone so young to such a shocking act of violence is heartbreaking for family and friends and for our entire community,” Hayden said. “I thank everyone who is working on this tragic case and I offer my deepest condolences to all those who knew and loved Melissa Pablo.”
